We’ve had a mild winter on Pyramid Lake Nevada, which often means not great fishing, but not this season! The fishing has been good, with not too bad of crowds- weekends are busier.
Pyramid Lake Lodge is booking accommodations just a few weeks out, so if you are calling in for rooms with no luck keep trying. The store is open and they are doing takeout food.
We recently had a great trip with Billy, Clayton, Brent, and Patrick! One of their Hogs weighed in at just under 19 lbs.
The weather on the lake has been all over the place, but the good fishing has remained consistent . We will start to see some pre-spawn action with more fish in the shallows soon. Despite popular belief, the recent full moon did not seem to affect the fishing at all. It appears that storms and barometric pressure have more of an effect on the lake fishing than lunar cycles do. We are headed into prime indicator fishing….
We had several happy clients last week!
The last few years right around MLK Day the fishing has been good! We are seeing 5-10 strikes a day with nice size fish landed on an indicator. Stripping has also done well on windy days.
January can be hit or miss, today was a HIT!
Guide’s day off, appx 10 each, sun-up to sun-down (Nick Jackson and Ryan Dangerfield).
The cutthroat this season have been big so far! Lots of 10+ pound fish. We can’t wait to see what’s to come! January still has some open dates, last season we had a phenomenal month fishing and weather wise!
Despite high pressure, and a recent full moon the fishing has been good! John out of Temecula CA landed 6 cutthroat today out on Pyramid Lake Nevada, including this nice Pilot Peak!
The season is now open on Pyramid Lake, Nevada. Reports are limited, but some boat anglers have been able to locate some Lahontans. Early storms and lower temps might mean a cold season, which is a good thing!
The time is almost upon us! Just 6 weeks away! The opener on October 1 is usually busy on the lake, and the fishing is decent. The water temps are still warm but float tubers and boaters tend to do well. Bait balls can usually be seen at this time. We usually watch for the lake to turn over and the water temps to drop, which allows the shore fishing to get really good just after Thanksgiving. We have partnered with a couple of boat guides, and a float tube guide as well. So if you are going to be out for the opener and need a vessel with a guide let us know!
We had a great day out on Pyramid with the crew from Tahoe Resources. Most of the group came in from Canada and had their first experience with fly fishing. We had a few 10 pounders to the net!
