PYRAMID LAKE FISHING REPORT

The last storm dropped the surface temps clearing out the bait balls to deeper water. Reports have been slow from shore, with boaters and float tubers having better luck. The lake is in a transition phase right now, shore fishing will improve once more winter storms roll in and water temps drop below 55°. Crossing our fingers for more bad weather!

NOVEMBER FISHING 2017

The fishing is pretty good in terms of larger size cutties being landed in the 4-8lb. range, just not seeing huge numbers quantity wise. Beach access is okay but the North and South ends are still closed. The shelves have changed so anglers are looking for access to deeper water. The morning bite has been productive. Big storm with lots of wind and rain today, let’s hope that means the fishing is HOT! 🌊

SEASON OPENER OCT. 1, 2017

That time will soon be upon us to search for the elusive 20 pound Lahontan Cutthroat Trout! We’re looking forward to landing these massive cutties on the alkaline lake just north of Reno once again. Our premium custom made ladders are good to go, and the flies are being tied! We’re stocking up on large zebra midge patterns, balanced leeches, woolly buggers, boobies, and popcorn beetles. We were able to land 6 trout over 10 pounds in just 4 weeks last season before the lake closed due to road damage from flooding, and we expect this year to be just as epic. Once the lake re-opened in late February crowds were a bit thick, but the fishing was GOOD. We thank the Tribe for letting us enjoy this amazing fishery!

9 INCHES OF SNOW- PYRAMID LAKE NEVADA

Winter conditions in Northern Nevada dropped 9 inches of new snow in the last day, and it’s still snowing! Pyramid Lake is covered in thick powder, and has winds of about 15mph- it is cold! We found good use for this wooden ruler dropped off by Santa this Christmas- it just wasn’t quite to scale for the fish on this lake!

9 inches snow

The massive Lahontan Cutthroats in this lake love to feed near shore during storms, so if you have a truck or AWD and are willing to brave the snowy roads get on out there- send us your pics and we’ll repost on our Instagram @pyramidlakeguides.
