JANUARY SO FAR

More mild weather and good fishing! January is one of the most underrated months to fish Pyramid. The water temps can make the fishing inconsistent, but this year has been good so far, we even landed another 20 lber! Get out there ~

NICE WEATHER=SLOWER FISHING, BUT BIG FISH

We’ve had some nice weather almost in the 60s out at Pyramid lately, which means the fishing has been a little slow but maintains quality over quantity! Any cast can result in a big fish, but you have to put in the time….

AFTERNOON BITE ON PYRAMID LAKE

If you’re looking to fish for just an hour or two try heading out between 3:30-5:00pm ish. The afternoon bite is typically productive! We landed both Summit Lake and Pilot Peak strains of Lahontan Cutthroats two consecutive days in a row; using white and chartreuse tadpoles and Doug’s Original Popcorn Beetle.

PYRAMID LAKE SEASON OPENER

The search for the massive Lahontan Pilot Peak Cutthroat Trout continues, but it will be a month or two before water temps are cool enough to bring these world record cutties into shore. In the meantime, please use caution in your water crafts- if the wind picks up get to shore and throw a zig jig instead! (Creator of the Zig Jig, Richard Cross, will be at the lake this week- keep an eye out for this legendary angler!)

We hope you all have a fun and safe opener out at the lake! We are so excited to see what big fish this season will bring, hoping to see more 20 pounders and even bigger….

Happy fishing everyone, and please remember to respect the Tribe and the lake, and follow all regulations!
