SPRING FISHING IS LOOKING GOOD!

We are headed into spring and the temps are ideal for fishing Pyramid. We’ve seen some quality fish lately!

GROUP TRIP, GREAT DAY

We had a great day out on Pyramid with the crew from Tahoe Resources. Most of the group came in from Canada and had their first experience with fly fishing. We had a few 10 pounders to the net!

FEBRUARY FISHING

February fishing on Pyramid Lake has been similar to December and January, with quality in size being at the forefront rather than numbers; although when a storm blows in we do see the numbers jump up. It’s been cold so bundle up!

FISHING REPORT DEC. 2018

Water temps are consistently dropping, heading towards the coldest part of the season. The fishing is good for big fish, numbers are not typically high during December but when anglers do get one to the net it’s typically good quality by means of size. Indicator fishing has been more productive than stripping. It appears that the best time to fish right now is during the warmest of the day, noon to 3-ish.

Anglers Nick and Shawn landed some decent fish this week! As did Utah guide Wade Isaman. The weather is supposed to be mild for a few days, let’s hope for more storms soon!

HIT AND MISS, SOME SHORE ACTION

The last few days have produced some decent fish from shore, which is an improvement from the last few weeks. The most likely cause was the drop in temps, which have picked back up today with 62 for the high, and 70 tomorrow. So the long and short is that it’s hit and miss right now, and the deeper you can get your line the better. Temps are expected to drop around Tuesday with lows in the near 30 and into the 20’s, so that should improve shore fishing. Water temps are 58-60 degrees. If you’re headed out to Pyramid try planning your trip around a low pressure system or cold snap. Remember, shore fishing tends to turn OFF on blue bird days. Bring on the crappy weather!
