Last week’s floods left the Sutcliffe community of Pyramid Lake with no running water for 7 days, and no sewer for 5 days; the power was also out at times. The main water source for the area broke in several areas and crews had limited access due to continued wet weather. Workers are now able to provide a temporary fix and residents do have running water- boil order is in effect and is not recommended to bathe, or clean clothes in the water until after at least Weds. Roads on both South and North ends of the lake are expected to take 4-6 weeks to repair. The lake is still closed to all fishing and boating activities- we are all hoping for an update from the Pyramid Lake Paiute Tribe as soon as conditions are stable enough to reopen the lake. FLOODING AT PYRAMID LAKE/RENO-SPARKS
Major flooding in the area has caused many road closures and water outages for residents in Sutcliffe on Pyramid Lake Nevada. Warrior Point is washed out where the pavement ends.
The highway from Wino to Popcorn is washed out/collapsed in three locations.
Local Rangers report that surrounding roads will be blocked with cement barricades this afternoon. South nets literally has a river flowing into it- overflow from a canyon creek.
We have heard reports that it’s possible to get to/from town.
Fishing on the lake could be good for those that have access to it! Some areas of the lake are blown out from nearby creeks and the Truckee river overflow. Good luck, and stay safe anglers! Follow us on Instagram and Facebook for more up to date news of Pyramid Lake, NV. @pyramidlakeguides
TWO 15 LB FISH IN THE NET TODAY
Guides Nick Jackson and Ryan Dangerfield both landed 15 pound Pilot Peak Cutthroats on Pyramid Lake Nevada this afternoon. Nick was using an Echo reel and Echo Badass Glass rod. Ryan landed his massive trout on a Sage rod and Galvan reel set up. The experienced anglers were both stripping leech patterns, and landed the fish about 20 minutes apart during the magic hour just before dusk.
Ryan and Nick are fishing guides along side each other year round- both guide on the Green River Utah during summers then head out to Nevada for this amazing fishery in winters. This is Nick’s 2nd season on Pyramid, and is going into season 7 this spring on the Green. Ryan relocated to Carson City this winter to get his feet wet guiding on Pyramid, and will enjoy his 2nd season guiding on the Green come April.

9 INCHES OF SNOW- PYRAMID LAKE NEVADA
Winter conditions in Northern Nevada dropped 9 inches of new snow in the last day, and it’s still snowing! Pyramid Lake is covered in thick powder, and has winds of about 15mph- it is cold! We found good use for this wooden ruler dropped off by Santa this Christmas- it just wasn’t quite to scale for the fish on this lake!
The massive Lahontan Cutthroats in this lake love to feed near shore during storms, so if you have a truck or AWD and are willing to brave the snowy roads get on out there- send us your pics and we’ll repost on our Instagram @pyramidlakeguides.
